When choosing between Ph.D. (not available at EIASM) and DPr., you need to consider the following aspects:

Future career:

Ph.D. = academic degree. Prepares you for a career in education research and teaching.

DPr. = professional degreee. Builds your leadership through research and practical application of research theories.

Time commitment:

Ph.D. in education delves more deeply into a specific area of research that can often take 4 to 6 years to complete.

DPr. can be completed in shorter time. DPr students often work full time while pursuing their degree.

Studies

A candidate for DPr degree has to complet an online / part-time course at EIASM. It consists of a taught component and a major research scientific project and its presentation. Completion of the program takes 3 years. This period can be extended up to 5 years in total. The program can be finished earlier if the student manages to complete all the requirements (complete the courses, write a dissertation). It includes frequent contact with the supervisor. There are also specializations in other areas than business (business is covered in our DBA program).

Taught Component

Taught component requires to obtain 180 credits during the course. Students need to complete the following courses as a part of a training program in research methods and skills.

Candidates who fail the requirements or required documentation may be re-examined on such terms as the Senate, on the recommendation of the EIASM.

Capstone Project

Candidates have to submit a research thesis on an approved topic. The thesis should offer an original application of knowledge in the area of specialization and should demonstrate the candidate’s ability to integrate rigorous academic analysis with practical real-world relevance and application.

The chosen subject should be considered in terms of future career plans. Students are offered positions due to their DPr. research. The thesis can take many forms, including research-based thesis (min. 20,000-40,000 words), business plan, case study, report (or a combination of all of these).

The output is a substantial report combining student’s experience with DPr. knowledge to provide research, analysis and recommendations. EIASM helps the students to proceed with their research.
