From April 6-15, 2026, EIASM welcomed international students for a short-term course on “European Experience with Retail Banking Development in Commercial Banks”, exploring how modern banking systems serve diverse customer segments across EU markets. 🏦

Martin Svoboda delivered a lecture on about banking sector in the Czech Republic. He provided students with information about Czech financial landscape. The session examined key macroeconomic indicators including GDP and inflation, positioning the Czech Republic as a bank-based coordinated market economy with unique structural characteristics. 📊

Students explored the role of Czech National Bank in maintaining price stability. They learned about the historical transition into a 2-tier banking system following 1990’s economic reforms. The transformation re-shaped how financial services operate in the country, moving from centralized state control to a competitive commercial banking environment. 🏛️

The lecture outlined operational strategies employed by Czech commercial banks, emphasizing priorities such as risk mitigation frameworks, process automation technologies and management approaches for various client segments. The students understood how banks balance profitability objectives with regulatory compliance and customer service in today’s dynamic financial environment. ⚙️
