A cedar tree has been officially adopted under the name of EIASM in Shouf Biosphere Reserve, the largest protected natural area in Lebanon and one of the most significant ecological sites in the Middle East.

The reserve spans approximately 5% of Lebanon’s total territory and is internationally recognized for its rich biodiversity, hosting thousands of plant and animal species, including ancient cedar forests that are a powerful national symbol of resilience, longevity and heritage . Beyond conservation, Shouf Biosphere Reserve is a leading model for sustainable development and community engagement , supporting local livelihoods, eco-tourism, education and environmental awareness initiatives.

By adopting a cedar tree within this protected landscape, EIASM reinforces its commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility and long-term impact – values that resonate deeply within our academic and alumni community.

We congratulate Dr. Omar Abi Ali on this meaningful contribution and thank him for representing EIASM through an initiative that will grow and endure for generations.
